There are many types of savory pies to try. You might like chicken pot pie, shepherd’s pie, or beef and Guinness pie. Some pies use shortcuts like store-bought crusts or biscuits to make cooking faster. This means you can enjoy a yummy pie even on busy weeknights.

Classic Chicken Pot Pie

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups cooked chicken, diced
  • 1 cup carrots, chopped
  • 1 cup frozen peas
  • 1/2 cup celery, chopped
  • 1/3 cup butter
  • 1/3 cup flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 3/4 cups chicken broth
  • 2/3 cup milk
  • 2 pie crusts (homemade or store-bought)

Instructions:


  1. Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C).



  2. Mix chicken, carrots, peas, and celery in a bowl.



  3. Melt butter in a saucepan over medium heat. Stir in flour, salt, and pepper until smooth.



  4. Slowly add broth and milk, stirring constantly. Cook until thick and bubbly.



  5. Pour sauce over the chicken mixture and stir well.

Instructions:

  • 1/8 tsp cayenne pepper

Instructions:


  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).

  2. Cook onion and garlic in oil until soft. Add harissa and tomato purée, cook for 3 minutes.



  3. Add chickpeas, prawns, pepper, and stock. Simmer for 5 minutes.



  4. Layer filo sheets in a baking dish, brushing each with oil.



  5. Pour in the filling and fold excess pastry over the top.



  6. Brush with oil and bake for 25-30 minutes until golden.
