Winter is here, and it’s time to warm up with tasty, easy meals. Crockpots are perfect for cold days. You can make yummy food without much work. Crockpot meals save you time and fill your home with great smells.
There are many winter crockpot recipes to try. You can make soups, stews, and even pasta dishes. Sweet potatoes, kale, and hearty meats are great in winter crockpot meals. These foods will keep you cozy and full all season long.
Slow Cooker Chili
You’ll need:
- 1 lb ground beef
- 1 onion, diced
- 1 bell pepper, chopped
- 2 cans kidney beans
- 1 can tomato sauce
- 1 can diced tomatoes
- 2 tbsp chili powder
- 1 tsp cumin
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions:
Brown the beef in a skillet. Add onions and peppers, cooking until soft.
Transfer to your slow cooker. Add beans, tomato sauce, and diced tomatoes.
Stir in chili powder, cumin, salt, and pepper.
Cover and cook on low for 6-8 hours or high for 3-4 hours.
Serve hot with your favorite toppings like cheese, sour cream, or green onions.
Beef Stew
You’ll need:
- 2 lbs beef stew meat, cubed
- 4 carrots, chopped
- 3 potatoes, diced
- 1 onion, diced
- 2 celery stalks, chopped
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 4 cups beef broth
- 1 can tomato paste
- 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
- 1 tsp dried thyme
- 2 bay leaves
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions:
Brown the beef in a pan. Add to your slow cooker.
Toss in all vegetables, garlic, broth, tomato paste, and seasonings.
Stir gently to mix everything.
Cover and cook on low for 8 hours or high for 6 hours.
Remove bay leaves before serving.
Your hearty beef stew is ready! Enjoy with crusty bread.
Chicken Noodle Soup
Ingredients:
- 1 pound boneless chicken breasts
- 4 cups chicken broth
- 1 onion, diced
- 2 carrots, sliced
- 2 celery stalks, chopped
- 2 garlic cloves, minced
- 1 teaspoon dried thyme
- 1 bay leaf
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 2 cups egg noodles
Instructions:
Put chicken, broth, veggies, and seasonings in your slow cooker.
Cover and cook on low for 6-8 hours or high for 3-4 hours.
Take out the chicken and shred it with two forks.
Put the chicken back in the pot and add the noodles.
Cook on high for 20 more minutes until noodles are tender.
Taste and add more salt or pepper if needed.
Lentil Soup
You’ll need:
- 1 cup dried lentils
- 1 onion, diced
- 2 carrots, chopped
- 2 celery stalks, chopped
- 3 garlic cloves, minced
- 4 cups vegetable broth
- 1 can diced tomatoes
- 1 bay leaf
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- Optional: 1 cup chopped cabbage
Instructions:
Add olive oil and onions to your slow cooker. Cook on high for 10 minutes.
Add all other ingredients except cabbage. Stir well.
Cover and cook on low for 6-8 hours or high for 3-4 hours.
If using cabbage, add it during the last hour of cooking.
Remove bay leaf before serving.

Vegetable Soup
You’ll need:
- 4 carrots, chopped
- 3 potatoes, diced
- 2 celery stalks, sliced
- 1 onion, diced
- 1 can diced tomatoes
- 2 tbsp tomato paste
- 6 cups vegetable broth
- 1 tsp dried thyme
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions:
Add all ingredients to your crockpot.
Stir to combine.
Cover and cook on low for 6-7 hours or high for 4-5 hours.
Taste and adjust seasoning if needed.
Serve hot and enjoy your comforting vegetable soup!
Chicken Pot Pie
You’ll need:
- 2 lbs boneless chicken breasts
- 1 bag frozen mixed vegetables
- 1 can cream of chicken soup
- 1 cup chicken broth
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1 tsp dried thyme
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1 tube refrigerated biscuits
Instructions:
Place chicken in your slow cooker.
Add vegetables, soup, broth, and seasonings. Stir to combine.
Cook on low for 6-8 hours or high for 3-4 hours.
Shred chicken with two forks.
Bake biscuits according to package directions.
Serve the chicken mixture in bowls topped with warm biscuits.
Beef Stroganoff
Ingredients:
- 2 lbs beef stew meat
- 1 onion, diced
- 8 oz mushrooms, sliced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 cups beef broth
- 1/4 cup Worcestershire sauce
- 2 tsp Dijon mustard
- 1 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp black pepper
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1 tsp onion powder
- 1/4 cup cornstarch
- 1 cup sour cream
Instructions:
Grease your slow cooker and add beef, onion, mushrooms, and garlic.
Mix broth, Worcestershire sauce, mustard, and seasonings. Pour over meat.
Cook on low for 8 hours or high for 4-5 hours.
Mix cornstarch with a little cold water. Stir into slow cooker.
Whisk sour cream with 1 cup of liquid from slow cooker. Add back and stir.
Serve over egg noodles or rice.
Pulled Pork
You’ll need:
- 3-4 lb pork shoulder
- 1 cup BBQ sauce
- 1/4 cup brown sugar
- 2 tbsp paprika
- 1 tbsp garlic powder
- 1 tbsp onion powder
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions:
Mix the dry ingredients in a bowl.
Rub the spice mix all over the pork.
Place the pork in your crockpot.
Pour BBQ sauce over the meat.
Cook on low for 8-10 hours or high for 6-7 hours.
Shred the pork with two forks.
Mix the meat with the sauce in the pot.
Serve on buns or use in tacos, salads, or other dishes.
Minestrone Soup
You’ll need:
- 1 can diced tomatoes
- 2 cups vegetable broth
- 1 cup water
- 2 carrots, chopped
- 2 celery stalks, chopped
- 1 onion, diced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 zucchini, diced
- 1 cup cabbage, sliced
- 1 can kidney beans, drained
- 1 cup pasta
- 1 tsp each: oregano, basil, thyme
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions:
Add all ingredients except pasta to your crockpot.
Cook on low for 6-8 hours or high for 3-4 hours.
Stir in pasta during the last 30 minutes of cooking.
Taste and adjust seasoning if needed.
Serve hot and enjoy your comforting minestrone soup!
French Onion Soup
Ingredients:
- 3 lbs onions, thinly sliced
- 4 tbsp butter
- 2 tbsp brown sugar
- 1 tsp salt
- 1/4 tsp black pepper
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 8 cups beef broth
- 1/4 cup sherry (optional)
- 2 bay leaves
- 4 sprigs fresh thyme
Instructions:
Put onions, butter, sugar, salt, and pepper in your slow cooker. Mix well.
Add garlic, bay leaves, and thyme. Pour in broth and sherry.
Cover and cook on low for 8-10 hours, until onions are soft and golden.
Remove bay leaves and thyme sprigs before serving.
Ladle soup into oven-safe bowls. Top with toasted bread and cheese if you like.
Broil until cheese melts and gets bubbly.

Turkey Chili
Ingredients:
- 1 lb ground turkey
- 1 onion, diced
- 2 cans kidney beans, drained
- 1 can diced tomatoes
- 2 cups chicken broth
- 2 tbsp chili powder
- 1 tsp cumin
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions:
Brown turkey and onion in a skillet.
Add turkey mixture to your slow cooker.
Put in beans, tomatoes, broth, and spices.
Stir everything together.
Cook on low for 6-8 hours or high for 4-5 hours.
Taste and adjust seasonings if needed.
Serve hot with your favorite toppings.
Zuppa Toscana
Ingredients:
- 1 pound Italian sausage
- 4 russet potatoes, sliced
- 1 onion, diced
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 4 cups chicken broth
- 2 cups kale, chopped
- 1 cup heavy cream
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions:
Brown the sausage in a pan. Add it to your crockpot.
Add potatoes, onion, garlic, and chicken broth to the pot.
Cook on low for 6-8 hours or high for 3-4 hours.
Stir in kale and cream 30 minutes before serving.
Season with salt and pepper.
Serve hot and enjoy your homemade Zuppa Toscana!
Lasagna
You’ll need:
- 1 lb ground beef
- 1 jar pasta sauce
- 1 cup ricotta cheese
- 1 cup mozzarella cheese
- 1/4 cup grated Parmesan
- 1 egg
- 6-8 uncooked lasagna noodles
- Italian seasoning
- Salt and pepper
Instructions:
Brown the beef, drain, and mix with pasta sauce.
Combine ricotta, half the mozzarella, Parmesan, egg, and seasonings.
Spread some sauce in the crockpot. Layer noodles, meat sauce, and cheese mixture.
Repeat layers, ending with sauce. Top with remaining mozzarella.
Cook on low for 4-5 hours until noodles are tender.
Let it sit for 30 minutes before serving.
Stuffed Peppers
Ingredients:
- 6 bell peppers
- 1 pound ground beef
- 1 cup cooked rice
- 1 can diced tomatoes
- 1 cup shredded cheese
- 1 diced onion
- 2 minced garlic cloves
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions:
Cut tops off peppers and remove seeds.
Mix beef, rice, half the tomatoes, half the cheese, onion, garlic, salt, and pepper in a bowl.
Stuff peppers with mixture and place in slow cooker.
Pour remaining tomatoes over peppers.
Cook on low for 6-8 hours or high for 3-4 hours.
Sprinkle remaining cheese on top before serving.
Short Ribs
You’ll need:
- 4 lbs beef short ribs
- Salt and pepper
- 2 tbsp flour
- 1 tbsp oil
- 1 onion, chopped
- 3 garlic cloves, minced
- 1 cup beef broth
- 1/2 cup red wine
- 2 tbsp brown sugar
- 2 sprigs fresh thyme
Instructions:
Season ribs with salt and pepper. Coat with flour.
Heat oil in a pan. Brown ribs on all sides. Transfer to slow cooker.
In the same pan, cook onion and garlic until soft.
Add onion mixture, broth, wine, sugar, and thyme to slow cooker.
Cover and cook on low for 8-9 hours.
Remove ribs and skim fat from sauce.
Serve ribs with sauce spooned over top.
Enchilada Casserole
You’ll need:
- 3 chicken breasts
- 1 can enchilada sauce
- 1 cup salsa verde
- 1 can corn, drained
- 1 can black beans, drained
- 2 cups shredded cheese
- 10-12 corn tortillas, cut into strips
- Salt, pepper, garlic powder to taste
Instructions:
Place chicken in the slow cooker. Sprinkle with seasonings.
Pour enchilada sauce and salsa verde over chicken.
Cook on low for 6-8 hours or high for 3-4 hours.
Shred chicken with two forks.
Stir in corn, beans, and half the cheese.
Layer tortilla strips and chicken mixture in the slow cooker.
Top with remaining cheese.
Cook on high for 30 minutes until cheese melts.
Serve hot with your favorite toppings like sour cream or avocado!
Ranch Chicken & Veggies
Ingredients:
- 4 chicken breasts
- 4 potatoes, cubed
- 2 cups baby carrots
- 1 onion, sliced
- 1 packet ranch seasoning
- 1 cup chicken broth
- 1 can cream of chicken soup
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions:
Place potatoes, carrots, and onion in the slow cooker.
Add chicken breasts on top of the veggies.
Mix ranch seasoning, chicken broth, and cream of chicken soup in a bowl.
Pour the mixture over the chicken and veggies.
Cover and cook on low for 6-8 hours or high for 3-4 hours.
Season with salt and pepper before serving.

Italian Wedding Soup
Ingredients:

- 2 cups chopped spinach
- 1 cup diced carrots
- 1/2 cup diced onion
- 1/2 cup small pasta (like acini di pepe)
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions:
Mix beef, breadcrumbs, cheese, egg, and Italian seasoning. Form into small meatballs.
Place meatballs, broth, spinach, carrots, and onion in your slow cooker.
Cook on low for 6-8 hours or high for 4 hours.
Add pasta during the last 30 minutes of cooking.

Garlic Balsamic Chicken
You’ll need:
- 4 chicken breasts
- 1/2 cup balsamic vinegar
- 1/4 cup chicken broth
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- 1 tsp each: basil, oregano, thyme
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions:
Mix balsamic vinegar, broth, garlic, and olive oil in your slow cooker.
Season chicken with herbs, salt, and pepper.
Add chicken to the slow cooker and coat with the mixture.
Cook on low for 6-7 hours or high for 3-4 hours.
Remove chicken and slice before serving.

Chicken and Rice Casserole

Add rice, soup, broth, onion, and peas. Stir to combine.
Cover and cook on low for 6-7 hours or high for 3-4 hours.
In the last 30 minutes, stir in cheese.

- 1 teaspoon sugar
- Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions:

Use an immersion blender to puree the soup until smooth.

- 2 cans kidney beans, drained and rinsed
- 1 can diced tomatoes
- 1 can tomato sauce
- 2 tbsp chili powder
- 1 tsp cumin
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions:
Brown beef and sausage in a skillet. Drain fat.
Add onion and bell pepper to the meat. Cook 3-4 minutes.
Transfer everything to your slow cooker.
Add beans, tomatoes, tomato sauce, and spices. Stir well.
Cover and cook on low for 6-8 hours or high for 3-4 hours.

Potato Soup

Ingredients:
- 1 bag frozen hash browns
- 4 cups chicken broth
- 1 can cream of chicken soup
- 1 diced onion
- 1/2 tsp black pepper
- 8 oz cream cheese
- Bacon bits (optional)
Instructions:
Put hash browns, broth, soup, onion, and pepper in your crockpot.
Cover and cook on low for 5 hours.
Add cream cheese and cook 30 more minutes, stirring occasionally.

Ingredients:
- 1 bag frozen meatballs
- 1 jar spaghetti sauce
- 4 cups water
- 1 tsp minced garlic

- 1 lb spaghetti noodles, broken in half
Instructions:
Pour half the sauce into your slow cooker.
Add meatballs in a single layer.
Pour remaining sauce over meatballs.
Add water, garlic, and seasonings. No need to stir.
Cook on low for 6-8 hours.
Stir mixture and add broken spaghetti.
Cook on high for 30-40 minutes until pasta is tender.
