Here are 10 herbs that go with sweet potatoes:
1. Rosemary
Rosemary is described as piney, resinous, astringent, and peppery.
It’s a very strong herb, so you don’t need to use very much of it.
I like to use about 1/4 teaspoon of dried rosemary per pound of sweet potatoes.
If you’re using fresh rosemary, then you’ll want to use even less because it’s more potent than the dried herb.
Rosemary goes well with other spices and herbs such as thyme, garlic, sage, and oregano.
So if you’re looking for a more complex flavor, then you can add one or more of these other herbs along with the rosemary.
But if you want a simpler flavor, then just stick with the rosemary.
2. Sage
Sage is a pungent herb that has an earthy taste to it.
I like to use sage with sweet potatoes as it provides a nice contrast to the sweetness of the potato.

For every large sweet potato, add 1/4 teaspoon of dried thyme or 1 teaspoon of fresh thyme.
You can always add more to taste, but I find that this is a good starting point.
Thyme is also a great herb to use if you’re making savory toppings for sweet potatoes, like a sage-thyme compound butter.
In this case, use equal parts fresh sage and thyme (so if you have 1 tablespoon of sage, add 1 tablespoon of thyme).
