Personally, I think these red little potatoes are the perfect size for a side dish.
They’re small, so they cook quickly, and they have a really nice, crispy skin that I think gets even better when you roast them.
I like to add some garlic and rosemary to mine, but you could also add thyme or oregano.
And, if you want a little bit of a kick, you could always add a pinch of red pepper flakes.
The great thing about this dish is that it’s really versatile and can be easily adapted to whatever you’re serving it with.
So, whether you’re making gnocchi, pasta, chicken, or fish, these roasted red potatoes will be a great addition to your meal.
2. Homemade Biscuits
Don’t worry, you don’t have to be a big time baker to make these delicious biscuits.
I like to serve them with sweet potato gnocchi, but they go well with just about anything.
The ingredients you’ll need are:
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tablespoon baking powder
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 cup cold butter, cut into small pieces
- 1 cup milk
- Preheat your oven to 425 degrees Fahrenheit.
- In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt.
- Using a pastry blender or your fingers, cut in the butter until it resembles coarse crumbs.
- Stir in the milk until the dough comes together.
- Turn the dough out onto a floured surface and knead lightly for about 10 seconds.
- Pat the dough out into a 1-inch thick round.
- Cut out biscuits with a 2-inch biscuit cutter and place on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
- Bake for 12 to 15 minutes, or until golden brown.

Honestly, coleslaw goes with any meal in my opinion.
But, if we’re talking about sweet potato gnocchi specifically, I would say go for a lighter coleslaw.
So, ditch the mayo and go for a vinaigrette made with olive oil, white wine vinegar, Dijon mustard, honey, and salt and pepper.
Then, add in some shredded cabbage (I like to use a mix of green and purple), grated carrots, thinly sliced red onion, and chopped fresh parsley.
Toss everything together and let it sit for at least 15 minutes so the flavors can meld before serving.
4. Jalapeño Cheddar Corn Muffins
These muffins are super cute, and they’re perfect for a summertime side dish.
They’re made with cornmeal, so they have a nice texture, and they’re studded with diced jalapeños and cheddar cheese.
I like to serve them with sweet potato gnocchi, but they would also be good with roasted vegetables or grilled chicken.
If you want to spice them up even more, you could add some chopped bacon or chorizo to the batter.

6. Crisp Smashed Potatoes
I LOVE a little crunch with my gnocchi, and these smashed potatoes are the perfect way to achieve it.
And, they’re so easy to make!
- Simply start by boiling some baby Yukon gold potatoes until they’re fork-tender.
- Then, using a potato masher or the back of a fork, gently smash each potato. Be careful not to mash them too much or they’ll fall apart.
- Next, heat up some olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
- Once hot, add the potatoes and cook for 3-5 minutes per side until golden brown and crisp.
- Season with salt and pepper to taste and serve alongside your gnocchi.
7. Oven-Roasted Asparagus
Easy, tasty, and healthy, this is a great side dish to serve with sweet potato gnocchi.
- 1 lb asparagus, trimmed
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- salt and pepper, to taste
- 1/4 cup Parmesan cheese, shredded
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- Preheat oven to 400 degrees F.
- In a large bowl, toss asparagus with olive oil, salt, and pepper.
- Transfer to a baking sheet and roast for 10-12 minutes, until tender and slightly browned.
- Remove from oven and top with Parmesan cheese and garlic.

Here’s a kid-friendly classic macaroni salad recipe that’s perfect to serve as a side dish with sweet potato gnocchi.
- 1 lb. elbow macaroni, cooked according to package instructions
- 1/2 cup mayonnaise
- 1/2 cup sour cream
- 2 tablespoons white vinegar
- 1 tablespoon sugar
- 1 teaspoon salt

- 1/2 cup diced celery
- 1/2 cup diced red onion
- 1/4 cup chopped fresh parsley

To make Spanish rice, you will need:

- 1/2 a onion, diced
- 1 clove of garlic, minced
- 1 tomato, diced
- 1 cup chicken broth or water
- 1 teaspoon olive oil
- salt and pepper to taste
- In a large saucepan, heat the olive oil over medium heat.
- Add the onion and garlic and cook until softened, about 5 minutes.
- Add the rice and cook for 1 minute.
