So which cheeses work best?
Havarti is a Danish cheese with a mild flavor and a soft texture.
It has a creamy color, and it melts well.
Havarti pairs well with chicken sandwiches it has a mild acidity that complements the sweetness of the chicken, which can sometimes be too strong for some palates .
Fontina is an Italian cheese that has been around since the Middle Ages.
It has a nutty flavor and soft texture, which makes it perfect for melting over sandwiches.
Fontina pairs well with chicken sandwiches because its buttery flavor adds depth to your sandwich, making it more filling than other cheeses on this list.
Gruyere is a French cheese that has been around since at least the late Middle Ages when it was made by monks in Switzerland and France (where it originated).
Gruyere has a rich, earthy flavor and creamy texture that melts wonderfully over anything you put on top of it!
It’s also great in soups or sauces because its rich flavor holds up well in liquid form—it won’t get lost amidst all those other ingredients!
In fact, Gruyere is one of my favorite cheeses to use with chicken sandwiches.
Brie is another French cheese, but it’s very different from Gruyere.
While Gruyere has a mellow flavor with hints of nuttiness and earthiness, Brie is much more mild with flavors of butter and cream coming through loud and clear—and it tastes amazing when melted over any kind of bread!
The smooth texture of Brie also makes it perfect for spreading on sandwiches or crackers as an appetizer.
Taleggio is an Italian cheese made from cow’s milk (though sometimes it’s made with a mixture of cow and goat milk).
It’s a semi-soft cheese that has a long shelf life, but it’s also rich, creamy, nutty, and salty—everything you could want in the perfect chicken sandwich!
6. Feta Cheese
Feta is an unripened cheese that can be made from sheep or goat’s milk.
